Dr. Una J. Lee is a Urologist in the Section of Urology at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at the University of Washington. She is subspecialty board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS), and serves as Associate Program Director of the ACGME-accredited FPMRS fellowship at Virginia Mason. Her undergraduate and medical school degrees are from Stanford University. She completed her urology residency at the Cleveland Clinic, and did her fellowship in Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA with Dr Shlomo Raz. Dr. Lee’s clinical practice is focused on the evaluation and management of female pelvic floor disorders. She specializes in overactive bladder, urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal reconstructive surgery, robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery for prolapse, as well as complications from prior surgeries using mesh. She cares deeply about patient perspectives, and pursues research to work toward better meeting patient’s needs.
Dr. Lee is an Advisory Board Member for the Pelvic Floor Disorders Network, which conducts clinical trials funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). She is also an active committee member of the American Urogynecology Society and the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction. She volunteers with the nonprofit organization Medicine for Humanity and travels to Mbarara, Uganda to partner with local providers and teach on the surgical repair of childbirth injury. As a physician who takes care of pelvic floor problems, Dr. Lee promotes patient education and public awareness of the body parts and how they function by writing posts on the Virginia Mason Health and Wellness Blog. She is an investigator in clinical and scientific research and conducts collaborative research at the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason. She serves as the Women’s Health Chair of the Washington State Urological Society. She has mobilized women urologists in Washington State by organizing Women in Urology Leadership Events. She is also serving as a Guest Editor of a special edition of Urology focusing on Women’s Health Issues.
